It is the reigning back-to-back champion of A Grade netball – but the Crib Point Football Netball Club has always understood the importance of building a solid junior platform heading into the 2018 MPNFL Division Two season.

Fielding a 17-and-under team from 2014 to ’16, it hurt the Magpies dearly to have no junior representation last year.

The club worked feverishly to rectify the situation, conducting successful trials at the end of 2017, with a full complement of players pointing to an exciting season ahead.

But roughly half of those players have now chosen different pathways, leaving the club desperately short of players with practice matches just around the corner.

Netball head coach Laura Herrington understands the importance of getting the junior team up and running.

“This team is our future, our feed to our senior ranks and we need it for our club to be strong and sustainable in the years to come,” Herrington said.

“We have six girls who are truly committed and dedicated, and we want to make sure we give them a team to play for in 2018.”

The Magpies are looking for individuals, or a group of friends, looking for a family club to call home, to join their ranks and become very valued members of the club.

“Absolutely, we’ve had success as a senior club but these girls are just so important to the fabric of the club and will be treated as such,” Herrington said.

“We have good coaches at the club and the future is bright, we just need that handful of players to jump on board and make a huge difference, not only to the club but to the girls who are really looking forward to the season.”
